What's a zeesstof?!The name is a blend of the names of our beloved (if noisy) Egyptian Street cats: Zhenny, Mrs Stripe and Toffee. We brought the three of them with us to Texas when we moved from Al Maadi (a suburb of Cairo) in Egypt to The Woodlands in Texas in 2004.
They took to life in Texas surprisingly well, but the consequence of living in the spore-ridden air of the Texas Piney Woods was that they became indoor kitties. |
Allergies and an aversion to the amazing humidity that we sometimes experience kept them in the air-conditioned comfort of beds (human-sized), cat-trees, linen baskets, cupboard-tops and all the other places that they laid claim to. It was a wonder they allowed us to stay here with them!
Sadly since the website was first published this has become a tribute to our furbabies. For the last couple of years Toffee (left) was TLC (The Last Cat) and reached a venerable 16 years old, like her mum and Zhenny had; not bad for 3 Cairo street moggies. We miss them.

Who Am I? |
Originally from Aberdeen in Scotland, I've been a fully fledged American (with a blue passport and everything!) since 2009. I retired from the Oil and Gas business in April 2021 and my travels have taken me all over the world. I am fortunate to have seen so many wonderful places in my life!
I have been taking photographs since I was old enough to hold the family box Brownie in the '60s. |
