saint francis wolf sanctuary
Just recently I've joined the Saint Fancis Wolf Sanctuary as a volunteer helping the professional animal care staff. The sanctuary was founded by Ms Jean LeFevre in 2002 and although Jean has now passed her legacy lives on. We recently changed location and have expanded from the original 3 acre site to 15 acres and are now located in Grimes County not far from the town of Navasota. Approximately half of the site has been developed so far and we hope to expand again in the near future.
I first visited the Sanctuary several years ago when it was located in Montgomery County. At that time I'd have loved to be able to volunteer straight away, but sadly the demands of my work made that impossible. Happily, I retired from full-time work in 2021 and now I can devote several days a week to actively helping at the Sanctuary and at other times during the week, helping out with IT tasks and fundraising. After training in the Mission of the Sanctuary (to provide exceptional lifelong sanctuary to non-releasable wolves and wolfdogs, while sharing a message of education and conservation) and learning about the backgrounds of our amazing pack I'm now one of the team that provides tours of the facility.
Below are some of the images that I've taken since joining the Sanctuary. I hope that you will visit us if you can, but even if you cannot come to see us in person please check out the Sanctuary's official website. If you can spare a little (or a lot!) please consider a donation, sponsorship, legacy or anything you can to help the efforts of this amazing place.
